🎶 Job Opening: Director of Music Ministry - Choir Director & Pianist (Part-Time) in Arvada, CO
A new, mid-size Presbyterian congregation, seeks a high-energy, vibrant, and compassionate Director of Music Ministry. We are looking for an individual with exceptional musical talent and a commitment to Christian values to lead our worship and musical community.
This vital role requires versatility as both a skilled Choir Director and a proficient Accompanist (Piano/Keyboard), capable of leading both contemporary and traditional/liturgical worship music in our faith community, where every person is welcome and accepted.
Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas
Your primary focus will be on directing our music ensembles and providing accompaniment.
Choir Direction & Ensemble Leadership
Direct the Choir of Grace and Bells of Grace rehearsals, focusing on musical excellence and authentic worship.
Utilize knowledge in directing and conducting techniques, music theory, and vocal coaching to achieve desired musical effects.
Recruit new participants and encourage broad participation in all music ministries, developing new groups and ensembles.
Cultivate a sense of community and spiritual service among choir members, and strengthen worship teams.
Piano Accompaniment & Worship Support
Skillfully accompany the choir in rehearsals and during Sunday morning services by playing the piano/keyboard (Organ ability preferred).
Coordinate and help develop both contemporary and traditional worship ministries, including weekly services and seasonal services (e.g., funerals, weddings, Advent, Christmas, Easter).
Select and recommend appropriate music and worship arts that support weekly worship themes.
Position Goals
To initiate, develop, and oversee a well-rounded music ministry—including choir and instrumental accompaniment—that will enable the church congregation to worship God with a variety of voices and perspectives.
Qualification Guidelines
Proficient skills as an accompanist on piano/keyboard are strongly preferred.
Experience directing adult church choirs and leading worship arts groups is essential.
Bachelor's degree in music or its equivalent.
Experience directing a bell choir and ability to play the organ preferred.
A personal faith that finds expression in music and worship ministry.
Ability to help others develop their musical and worship leadership gifts.
An appreciation and openness to all styles of music that aid in the worship of God.
Commitment to team ministry with other members of the church staff.
Compensation & Details
Position Type: Permanent Part-Time.
Salary Range: $30,000 to $42,000/year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Cafeteria benefit choices (including healthcare, HRA, 403b match), vacation, sick leave, and support for continuing education.
Supervision: Reports to the Pastor as head of staff.
