Church Administrator | First Avenue Presbyterian Church

Overview:
Denver’s oldest Presbyterian church is looking to add a new person to our team.  The Church Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day business, administrative, and financial operations of First Avenue Presbyterian Church. This position oversees office management, financial records, communication, and building management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:

    • Oversee budgeting, record-keeping, bill payments, and financial reporting.

    • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and maintain the church’s tax-exempt status.

  2. Office Management:

    • Manage the church office operations, including filing, record-keeping, equipment, phone, internet, and general administrative duties.

    • Create a welcoming church environment that supports the church’s mission.

  3. Communication:

    • Manage internal communication within the church, including Sunday bulletin, phone, website, facebook, newsletters, and announcements.

    • Serve as the point of contact with the congregation, building users, service vendors, and the Baker neighborhood.

  4. Building Management:

    • Oversee facility maintenance and security, ensuring the church building is well-maintained and safe for all users.

    • Coordinate building use, janitorial, maintenance, repair, and improvement.

  5. Personnel Management:

    • Oversee the employment, evaluation, and supervision of maintenance staff and additional administrative staff as needed.

    • Coordinate volunteers for church programming.

  6. Scheduling and Events:

    • Coordinate events and meetings, maintaining the church calendar and ensuring proper logistics.

  7. Long-Term Planning:

    • Assist with long-term planning, goal-setting, and ministry development to support the church's mission.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.

  • Organizational Skills: High level of organization to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Financial Management Skills: Proficient in budgeting, financial record-keeping, and understanding accounting principles.

  • Knowledge of Church Culture and Practices: Familiarity with the values, traditions, and operational practices of the church community.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and or Google Workspace and tools for communication and financial management (QuickBooks), comfort in learning new software such as online giving platforms  or church management systems.

Compensation:

  • Depending on part-time or full time employment, health benefits available in addition to salary at a rate of $35 to $40 per hour.
