PRESENTERS
Scott M. Browning - Scott is an attorney and CPA, and a partner in the Denver office of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. Scott is a core member of the firm’s Religious Institutions practice and, for more than 25 years, has served as a trusted advisor for religious institutions across the country, helping to navigate complex legal issues and working to protect the rights and religious freedom of faith-based organizations. Among the awards and accolades from the legal community for this work with religious organizations, Pope Francis named Scott to the Order of St. Gregory the Great as a Knight of St. Gregory for his extraordinary, decades-long service to the Catholic Church in the United States; it is a rare honor for a layperson to receive a papal knighthood, and even more rare given Scott is a practicing protestant. In addition to his work with religious-based organizations Scott serves as outside general counsel to a number of secular schools and has represented such well-known organizations as AT&T, Honeywell, and ECMC.
Alex C. Myers - Alex is an attorney and partner in the Denver office of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. Alex is a core member of the firm’s Religious Institutions practice, and regularly counsels church and school clients on a wide variety of legal issues. In addition to his extensive experience litigating high-stakes lawsuits, for the past 15 years, Alex has advised local and national organizations on matters involving sexual misconduct. This work is primarily focused on counseling youth-serving organizations—such as sports clubs, religious institutions, and schools—and includes developing policies focused on prevention and reporting of childhood sexual abuse.
